Little white jewel: Setenil de las Bodegas

Recently, my facebook news feed was overwhelmed with the shares of various images with a small Spanish white village built right into and under massive rocks. There were plenty of sensational titles accompanied by spectacular photos of this fantastic place, which got its 15-minutes of fame on social media websites just a short while ago.

I couldn’t help but brag about the fact that I had the chance to step on the narrow streets of this little white jewel tucked under imposing rocks, way before it was cool! 😉

It was a hot day sometime in June this year and we took a short bus trip from Ronda to visit the famous Setenil de las Bodegas. Unfortunately, our short stay was conditioned by the bus’ time schedule, so after having a great meal at La Escueva we had to hurry up and get a little lost on the streets of the village. This place truly deserves its fame, as it is simply spectacular in its architecture. The white houses, so typical in this region, the narrow streets and small squares climbing up and down the steep terrain, plus the way everything was build, shaded and protected by the nature itself. You HAVE to pay this village a visit when you’re in beautiful Andalusia! And if you get to Ronda, there’s no acceptable excuse to miss Setenil de las Bodegas!
